Bati has a seemingly perfect life in her ultra-Orthodox Jewish community in Jerusalem. She is married to Lazer and the young couple have three beautiful children. But their world starts to crumble when Lazer is beaten and blackmailed. Truths are revealed about why he was beaten and he attempts to “cure” his queerness and keep his family. The contradiction is blunt enough to upend one’s sense of self: if queerness is profoundly contrary to a deeply religious Jew, how could G*d impose it upon one of his most observant adherents? As Bati finds her way through the course of these truths, her awareness grows to understand what she needs to do.
