Eid tells a very particular story set in Rahat, the largest Bedouin city in Israel. Eid (Shadi Mar’i) is a construction worker who has problems fitting into the conservative society he has been born into and he dreams of becoming a playwright. He’s in love with a married Arab actress who lives in Paris and helps him with his writing. When his parents inform him that they are arranging a marriage for him with a girl he’s never met, he has no choice but to marry. The film tells the story with such skill and intensity that it transcends it’s setting and will have a universal appeal.
Mar’i is a familiar face in Israeli TV from his performances in Fauda, among many other roles.
