Opening Night Gala

gallery3

It’s difficult enough for aspiring filmmakers who are also actors and comedians to get attention crafting works in their mother tongue! But Jamie Elman and Eli Batalion chose to up the ante by creating their work in Yiddish, albeit with English subtitles.

And… lest anyone get the impression that their YidLife Crisis project is some sort of homage to such Yiddish literature luminaries like Sholom Alecheim or Isaac Bashevis Singer, be warned… these short films are more steeped in the tradition of Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld, Woody Allen and Jackie Mason. Which is to say the humour is rooted in much irreverence, but with a Yiddish twist.

Special guests, creators Jamie Elman (Chaimie) & Eli Batalion (Leizer).
Appearance sponsored by The Estates of Frank and Rosie Nelson.
